How to make a Google review QR code

Making a Google review QR code takes about five minutes and costs nothing: copy your review link from your Google Business Profile, paste it into a free QR code generator, download the image, and print it. The trick that actually grows reviews is not the code itself but where you put it and when you ask, which is the part most guides skip.

We run our own home-service companies — a cleaning company in Tucson and an HVAC company in Sacramento — and reviews are the single cheapest thing that moves both rankings and bookings. A QR code on the invoice and a same-day text is how we ask without it feeling awkward. Here is the whole process.

The four steps, start to finish

  1. 1

Get your review link. In your Google Business Profile, click Ask for reviews or Get more reviews and copy the short link it gives you. It opens the review box directly.

  2. 2

Paste it into a free QR generator. Any reputable free tool works. Skip the ones that charge a monthly fee for a code that should cost nothing.

  3. 3

Download an SVG or high-res PNG. SVG scales to any size without going blurry, which matters for a truck decal or a large counter sign.

  4. 4

Test it, then print it. Scan it with your own phone first to confirm it opens the review box, then put it everywhere a happy customer stands still.

Where to put it so it gets scanned

🧾 On the invoice

The bottom of the invoice or receipt is prime real estate. The customer is already looking at it, the job is fresh, and a short "Scan to leave a review" line earns scans.

📲 In a follow-up text

A same-day text with the link works even better than the code on phones, since the customer can tap instead of scan. Send it within an hour of finishing, while they are still pleased.

🪧 On a counter card

For a shop or front desk, a small standing card with the code and a one-line ask catches people while they wait. Keep the code big enough to scan from a foot away.

🚐 On the truck or gear

A decal on the truck or a sticker on the equipment turns every job into a passive reminder. Pair it with a verbal ask when the customer is happy with the result.

Why reviews matter more than the code

The QR code is plumbing. The value is the steady stream of reviews it helps you collect. Reviews do two jobs at once, which makes them the rare lever worth obsessing over:

When you do not need a paid tool

Plenty of services sell a "review QR code" subscription. For most service businesses you do not need one. Skip the paid tier when:

A paid review platform earns its place once you want to route private feedback, automate requests across many locations, or track who has reviewed. For a single location, the free code and a same-day ask is genuinely all you need.

Where we fit

A QR code collects reviews; the harder part is turning those reviews and searches into booked jobs. That is what we build: a site that shows your reviews and license, captures the lead, and a system that asks for reviews after every job so the flow never dries up.

Our plans start at $249/month for the site plus AI lead capture, with the SEO content engine and review automation at $597/month, month-to-month, and you own everything. See why customer reviews matter, read our honest take on what local SEO costs, or whether local SEO is worth it.

We don't post stock testimonials. On a 15-minute call we screen-share the real dashboards behind our own businesses — live leads, rankings, and the exact page that produced each one. See the proof →

Common questions

Where do I find my Google review link?

In your Business Profile, use the Ask for reviews or Get more reviews button. It gives a short link that opens the review box directly. You can also build it from your Place ID.

Reviews link or website for the code?

A review code should land on the review box itself. If you want a code for new customers to find you, make a separate one that points at your site or booking page.

Do I have to pay for a QR code?

No. A static code from a free generator never expires and does the job. Only pay for a dynamic code if you genuinely need to redirect it later.
